My name is Elaine Soto-Martis. I went to Roosey during the
time period of 1971 to 1975. I played the clarinet in the band and was in
the marching band. I also was part of the swimming team from 1973-1975. I
was part of the Swinging Brass Drill Team in 1975. I graduated from the
Naguabo Rafael Rocca High School because my father retired and I couldn't
finish my education at Roosey. I started college at Humacao but got married
1 1/2 years into my college education. Afterwards I took courses to add to
my education but it wasn't until 1998 that I was able to go back full-time
again. Now I'm 1 1/2 years away from getting a BA in Bussiness
Administration with a major Accounting and a minor in Management. Currently
I'm employed with Walgreens as an Assistant Manager. I have three children,
two boys and a girl. They are 21, 18 and 5 respectively. The
eldest, Sam, ran away from home 3 1/2 years ago. Giovanni, the middle child,
is doing well and is in his freshman year at the University in Cayey. Eliane
Kamille the youngest is in homeschool but will be going to first grade in
the fall. I've been divorced since 1994 from the boys father. Eliane is my
gift from God from a common law marriage that didn't work either. Still, I'm
extremely happy in my present situation and achieving all the goals I've set
for myself. I plan on continuing my education and will eventually become a
lawyer with a Masters in Finance. I've been back in PR since 1998 and have
lived in Texas, Kentucky and Germany. Did a good bit of traveling to the
surrounding countries while living in Germany with my then military husband.
My motto is live life to its fullest enjoy the good times to the max and
roll with the punches! I hope to hear from friends long lost but not
forgotten. Love, Elaine
P.S. When I was in 5th grade a boy used to call me Soggito or
Soggy Soto Head. I used to hate the name now is just a fond memory.
