I attended kindergarten through 2nd grade in R.R. and after some years in Kingsville, TX, and Jacksonville, FL, attended 7th through 10th in R.R. (the address, 22 Ranger Road, and telephone number 4989 are still burned in my memory) before moving back to Kingsville to finish high school in 1970. My dad retired and we moved to Knoxville, TN, where I attended the University of Tennessee to get a degree in Communications (newspaper journalism). Afterward, I joined the newspaper staff at The Press-Scimitar and then The Commercial Appeal in Memphis, TN, where I've been ever since as a working journalist and computer analyst. I'm married with two teenage daughters, and, as happy as I am, I still have very fond memories (as I'm sure everyone else does) of the island, school and Navy base life. My newspaper career actually began on the base as a paperboy for "The San Juan Star" which, as fate would have it, was a Scripps Howard newspaper. My newspaper career has been with ! two other Scripps Howard properties and I even visited Puerto Rico two times as a consultant with the "Star" before it was sold. I hope some of my old friends write me. I'll be sure to stay in touch myself.
